We will open to applicants for the 2011 JT3 Artist Awards
in the early spring of 2011.
Applicants will be
accepted from residents of Brooklyn, NY and the Washington, DC Metropolitan area (District of Columbia;
Prince Georges County, MD; Montgomery County, MD;
Arlington County, VA; Fairfax County, VA).

Eligible artists are aspiring screenwriter/directors who demonstrate
talent, passion, and a strong work ethic,
but have room to grow and need this grant to help make that growth
possible.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- United States citizens
- Ages 18-32
- Residents of Brooklyn, NY or the Washington, DC Metropolitan area (District of Columbia; Prince Georges County, MD; Montgomery County, MD; Arlington County, VA; Fairfax County, VA) for at least one year
Applicants are required to submit the following:
- Completed application
- A resume
- A list of any additional completed works or works in progress the applicant would like to have considered as part of their body of work; works are not limited to screenplays and films
- Proof of residency
- Signed release form
- A screenplay – short or feature length
- A short film written and directed by the applicant
At the end of the application period, the review panel will evaluate each application and all supporting materials in detail. The panelists will then offer their recomendations to the Board of Directors who will approve the awardees.
Criteria for analysis:
- Overall excellence of applicant’s submitted film, screenplay, and personal essay
- Applicant’s intentions for his/her future work
- Applicant’s commitment to their craft
- Applicant’s appreciation for the collaborative aspects of filmmaking
- Applicant’s film will be reviewed for its concept, directing, acting, cinematography, editing, and overall ability to tell a story effectively
- Applicant’s screenplay will be reviewed for its originality, story, characterizations, dialogue, format and style, and structure
