Jesse's Story
Jesse, who was also known as JT, was born on October 26, 1981, in Washington, DC and joined the Vermont Avenue Baptist Church at an early age. He attended Stevens Elementary School and Sidwell Friends School where he excelled in academics, basketball, track and football, and was elected co-president of his senior class, graduating in 1999. He spent his last years studying and working in New York City.
After his initial year in Columbia University's engineering school, Jesse changed his major to study film script writing and directing -- a field he grew to love during his early years with his father's video camera. He set a Columbia University track record (with wind) and worked long, hard hours to help finance his education and to support his film projects. Jesse received his bachelor's degree from Columbia in 2006.
Jesse took a year away from Columbia to study Chinese in Beijing under the Sidwell Friends School Zeidman Fellowship. During breaks from the Beijing Normal School, he traveled extensively throughout China, logging a couple of thousand miles as he explored both the metropolitan areas and the countryside. He acted in two commercials while in China, including a commercial for World Cup soccer.
